INGREDIENTS:
3 beef frying steaks
1 red chilli
1 carrot
2 spring onions
1 red pepper
1 chunk of ginger
3 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp runny honey
3 tbsp Chinese 5 spice
4 tbsp cornflour
METHOD:
1. In a bowl, add the thinly sliced beef, Chinese five spice and 3 tbsp cornflour. Mix until coated.
2. In a large pan, add a big glug of vegetable oil and heat up until very hot. Test the heat with half a chopped chilli so see if it sizzles and fries when you put it in.
3. When hot enough, add the beef. Keep on a high heat and cook until crispy and brown. Once cooked, set to one side and dab dry with kitchen roll.
4. In the same pan, add the pepper, carrot, chilli, ginger and spring onions. Cook down for about 4 minutes until softened.
5. Return the beef to the pan and mix. Add soy sauce, honey and 1tbsp of cornflour slurry and it’ll begin to thicken. Once all mixed and you’re happy with the consistency, serve with steamed rice.
